Dementia Awareness can provide you with a basic understanding of dementia, the varying forms and the impact it can have on people’s lives. It also provides an overview of typical signs and symptoms.
Dementia is not a specific disease; it describes a collection of symptoms, caused by disorders affecting the brain. Dementia impacts thinking, behaviour and the ability to perform everyday tasks and interferes with a person’s normal social and/or working life.
There is no known prevention or cure for most forms of dementia, which makes support vital for people with dementia; the help of families, friends and carers can have a positive difference to managing the condition.
